ASSP Announces Pam Walaski Will Become Its 2024-2025 President

Starting on July 1, 2024, Walaski will succeed Jim Thornton in the role.

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has announced its new leadership roster following its 2024 elections. Beginning July 1, 2024, Pam Walaski will be the new ASSP president for the 2024-2025 term, succeeding Jim Thornton.

“Our Society’s strength is rooted in our dedicated volunteers and their desire to lead our organization,” Thornton said in a statement. “Engaged safety professionals have always defined ASSP, keeping it vibrant while advancing worker safety and health.”

Walaski brings 30 years of experience to her new role, having previously served as ASSP’s director-at-large from 2018 to 2021. As senior program director at Specialty Technical Consultants and adjunct faculty member at two universities, Walaski has a demonstrated commitment to advancing worker safety and health.

Joining Walaski in ASSP's leadership lineup are President-Elect Linda Tapp, Senior Vice President Monique Parker, and Directors-at-Large Scott DeBow and Todd Loushine. Candidates for board positions are selected based on their involvement in ASSP committees, their industry experience and their alignment with the ASSP's vision.
