DOT's August 2017 Significant Rulemaking Report lists the status of dozens of pending rulemakings, including some the agency has halted and many others it has delayed during the Trump administration's initial months.
"What is most frustrating about the enormous costs of HAIs is that the majority are preventable," said Linda Lybert, founder and president of the Healthcare Surfaces Summit. "We are focusing our prevention campaign on surfaces as a foundational issue because they are implicated in many HAIs and their complexity can stymie prevention efforts.

"In this case, AIREKO Construction avoided hiring trained and certified asbestos abatement professionals. AIREKO did the work 'on the cheap,' willfully putting workers and others at risk."

"We know paid sick leave is a big change for employers and workers," said Annette Taylor, deputy assistant director of L&I's Fraud Prevention & Labor Standards. "We're doing everything we can to make sure people know what the proposed rules are and have an opportunity to provide input before this significant change happens in January."
The company has received 18 reports of fuel leaks from the vehicles' fuel tap. No injuries have been reported.
The agency hopes it can discourage the use of e-cirgarettes by young people.

The law creates a Cannabis Control Commission to regulate the recreational and medical marijuana industries. The commission also will set potency limits for edible marijuana products and adopt packaging requirements that conform to a detailed list of health and safety protections.
Staffers from the agency's division of Coal Mine Safety and Health and training specialists from Educational Field and Small Mine Services will visit coal mines to review approved training plans and talk with and observe miners with one year or less experience at the mine and miners with one year or less experience performing their current job.
