Ladders may not fit in a toolbox, but they are among the most essential tools for tradespeople and homeowners alike. Ensuring their proper use is critical for workplace safety and preventing injuries.
The American Ladder Institute (ALI) is once again spearheading National Ladder Safety Month this March, an annual initiative aimed at promoting ladder safety awareness, reducing accidents, and increasing participation in the Ladder Safety Training program.
This year’s campaign, themed “Every Step Matters,” will focus on a series of weekly safety topics:
- Week 1: Training and Awareness
- Week 2: Inspection and Maintenance
- Week 3: Stabilization, Setup, and Accessories
- Week 4: Safe Climbing and Positioning
As part of the campaign, ALI is hosting a special webinar series starting March 10. Participants can register for these free events at laddersafetymonth.com. The webinar schedule includes:
- March 10: Common Ladder Accidents and How to Avoid Them
- March 17: Ladder Safety: Set Up & Pro Tips
- March 24: DIY/Homeowner Ladder Safety
Beyond the webinars, ALI offers year-round access to a variety of free online ladder safety training tools at laddersafetytraining.org. The website provides structured courses, instructional videos, and a comprehensive resource library to support safe ladder usage.
This year’s National Ladder Safety Month is supported by a range of sponsors dedicated to promoting workplace safety. Middle Rung sponsors include the International Masonry Institute, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and Werner Co. First Rung sponsors include Riverdale Plating & Heat Treat, Dorsey & Whitney, and Louisville Ladder.
By engaging in National Ladder Safety Month and utilizing ALI’s extensive training resources, individuals and organizations can take proactive steps toward reducing ladder-related incidents and fostering a safer working environment.
