OSHA Publishes 2022 Injury, Illness Data

The published data includes information from more than 300,000 establishments.

Late last week, OSHA announced that it had published occupational injury and illness data for 2022.

According to a news release, the Injury Tracking Application data contains information from over 300,000 establishments. Some of this information includes, per the downloaded document, total poisonings, total respiratory conditions and total days away from work.

“Recordkeeping is a valuable tool that provides a road map to where and why injuries and illnesses occur and where improvements are needed,” said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Doug Parker in the news release. “By increasing access to this data, we are providing information that can help people better understand the overall effectiveness of safety and health systems in the workplace.”

This year, employers had from January 2 to March 2 to submit OSHA Form 300A, but this doesn’t apply to all establishments. Those in specific industries, those with fewer than 20 workers in the applicable year and those with 20 to 249 employees that are not a part of certain industries are not required to e-submit Form 300A (unless requested), according to OSHA.

If any establishments that are required to submit the form have not yet, OSHA said they must submit it on the injury tracking application.
