Winter Weather Warnings: Considerations for Seasonal Illnesses and Injuries

Exposure to cold can result in severe injuries or even death. Listen in as Editor Sydny Shepard discusses the most prevalent risks associated with winter weather and what you can do to stay healthy.

It’s officially November and I’m not sure where you are, but where I am there is a bit of a nip in the air. The temperatures are dropping, the tress are losing their leaves and in some places you might start to see snow and ice.

While the beginning of November often symbolizes the beginning of the holiday season, it can also bring with it some less cheerful things such as winter hazards for employees. We have talked ad nauseam about injuries and illnesses related to the summer months and the heat that comes with it. It’s been so bad, the last couple of years, that OSHA has decided to create a federal heat stress prevention rule, something that they hope to roll out in the next year. But often, winter and the risks associated with winter weather often fall to the side.

In this episode, Editor Sydny Shepard talks about some of the biggest issues safety professionals and employees might run into during the winter months and how you can work to both prevent and anticipate winter hazards.
