By awarding more than $375,000 in scholarships and grants to 117 individuals seeking advancement in the occupational safety and health profession, the foundation topped its previous record of $303,665 awarded in 2017.

The American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation is celebrating a record year by awarding more than $375,000 in scholarships and grants to 117 individuals seeking advancement in the occupational safety and health profession. The 2018 distribution tops the foundation's previous record of $303,665 in 2017, ASSE announced this week.

"The foundation is highly appreciative of the ASSE member community for its tremendous support," said ASSE Foundation Chair Dave Crowley, CSP, CHMM, STS. "Thanks to all of our donors, we were able to increase scholarship and grant funding by an incredible 24 percent this year. We are thrilled to help so many people realize their goals of continuing education in the safety and health profession."

The foundation awarded $349,500 in scholarships to 90 students pursuing occupational safety and health degrees at 43 schools and universities nationwide. Another $28,425 in professional education grants was earmarked for 27 professionals looking to expand their knowledge base through certifications, conferences and seminars, and college coursework.
