Walt Disney to Underwrite Safety Matters Silent Auction
Walt Disney Co. will be underwriting the silent auction taking place during ASSE's annual conference.
Walt Disney Co. will be the sole major underwriter of the Safety Matters Silent Auction being held during the American Society of Safety Engineers' annual conference, Safety 2014, which will take place June 8-11 in Orlando, Fla.
Proceeds from the Safety Matters Silent Auction will go to the ASSE Foundation's Safety Matters fund, which expands programs that are "crucial for the future of the safety profession," according to ASSE. The foundation provides research, leadership development, and educational enhancement opportunities for those in the workplace safety industry.
Items up for bid at the silent auction include an Apple TV, autographed copies of two safety books written by Fred Manuele, a Chicago Bears signature poster, four tickets to a New York Yankees game, a signed Manchester United jersey, an American Girl collectible doll, a solar-powered digital weather radio, and a Neutral Posture ergonomic chair. ASSE's annual conference attracts more than 4,500 safety professionals and 500 exhibitors.
"The Walt Disney Co. is a major charitable contributor to groups around the world. Its focus on compassion, conservation, and creativity aligns with that of the foundation, seeking to improve the lives of kids, families, and communities in which they live," said ASSE Foundation Board Chair Fay F. Feeney.
