Governors Safety and Health Conference Remembers Heroes
The 62nd annual conference presented the Governor’s Lifesaving Award to 40 men and women
The 62nd annual Governors Safety and Health Conference, held on September 25-26, 2013 in Tacoma, Washington, features safety demos, workshops, a “forklift rodeo,” a “poletop rescue competition,” and this year, the Governor’s Lifesaving Award, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
Forty men and women received the award yesterday, and recipients range from 24-Hour Fitness employees who used their CPR/AED training twice in a 24-hour period, to King County transit employees who entered a wrecked car to help a victim out. The recipients were selected by an independent committee of the conference advisory board, according to the press release.
The conference, held each year in Washington, is one of the largest of its kind, and it brings together industry experts to discuss best practices, perform demos and more, according to Business Examiner. This year’s guest speakers include Governor Jay Inslee and adventure racer and firefighter Robyn Benincasa.
