Nominations Sought for 2014 Safe-in-Sound Awards

The Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards™ are a partnership between NIOSH and the National Hearing Conservation Association to honor excellent hearing loss prevention practices in the workplace.

Nominations for the 2014 Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards™ are now being accepted, with a nomination deadline of Sept. 6, 2013. The 2014 awards will be presented March 14, 2014, at the 39th NHCA Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

The awards were established by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in partnership with the National Hearing Conservation Association to honor excellent hearing loss prevention practices in the work environment. Applicants are evaluated against key performance indicators in a review process that evaluates hearing loss prevention programs in three work sectors; construction, manufacturing, and services. A fourth award for Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention recognizes individuals and/or business entities regardless of industrial sector.

A representative from each award winner will be invited to the NHCA annual conference to present its award-winning story, and examples of award-winning hearing loss prevention strategies will be showcased on the NHCA and Safe-in-Sound websites.
