Webinar to Outline Opioid Overdose Trends
The free AMA event on Dec. 12 will feature two CDC presenters.
"Prescription Opioid Overdose and the Public Health Response" is the title of a free, one-hour webinar on Dec. 12 being presented by the American Medical Association. The speakers are Len Paulozzi, M.D., MPH, medical epidemiologist in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention of CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, and Christopher M. Jones, PharmD, MPH, prescription drug overdose team leader for the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention.
The webinar will begin at 1 p.m. EST and will cover CDC's public health response to prescription drug overdoses and deaths. The presenters will:
- Explain trends in unintentional overdoses and deaths attributable to prescription opioids
- Describe demographic and other risk factors associated with an increased risk in unintentional overdoses from opioids
- Review general public policy and clinical practice strategies recommended to promote responsible opioid prescribing
