MARAD Seeks Environmental Associate Administrator

The Maritime Administration, a DOT agency known as MARAD, is currently recruiting for the position of Associate Administrator for Environment and Compliance. This is a federal government Senior Executive Service (SES) position located in Washington, D.C.

MARAD is the agency within DOT dealing with waterborne transportation. It works in many areas involving ships and shipping, shipbuilding, port operations, vessel operation, national security, environment, and safety.

The Associate Administrator (AA) for Environment and Compliance assists the Maritime Administrator in the formulation, direction, and coordination of national policies and programs designed to find solutions to maritime industry operational challenges concerning safety, security, and environmental sustainability. The AA is responsible for conducting compliance activities in support of other agency programs (i.e., NEPA reviews).

This position is responsible for overseeing research and development plans and interfaces with industry and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration to build support for key Maritime Administration and departmental goals and objectives.
