Doug Parker, assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health, will deliver a recently added special general session this Wednesday at the 62nd annual Safety 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.

Speaking at 10:30 a.m. CT on Wed., June 7, Parker will discuss the latest activities and future plans of OSHA to protect U.S. workers. The special session will be held in the Stars at Night Ballroom at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Parker’s 60-minute “OSHA Update” will cover regulatory priorities, enforcement actions and outreach initiatives. The session will include an interactive Q&A with questions submitted via text by attendees of this week’s American Society of Safety Professionals conference and expo. Afterward, Parker will meet with journalists at 11:45 a.m.

Parker was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of Labor in 2021 and previously served in the Obama Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration. He has also held positions as a senior policy advisor and special assistant at the Department of Labor, and most recently served as chief of California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA).
