VPPPA Safety+ Symposium Begins This Week

Safety+ Symposium takes places in Washington DC from August 23 to 25.

This week is the VPPPA Safety+ Symposium in Washington DC! This three-day event will bring safety professionals from around the country together to learn from each other and network.

People from all industries and levels have gathered for the symposium. “We do a lot of what I would call company-to-company, peer-to-peer networking,” VPPPA Chairman of the Board Terry Schulte said. “It’s not uncommon for us to have the CEO and the frontline worker talking or sharing a presentation together."

From sessions to workshops, there are many learning opportunities at Safety+ Symposium. Attendees can learn about new regulations, requirements and OSHA programs and learn from OSHA professionals and VPP state managers, Schulte said. For first-time attendees, there’s even a special track to learn everything about VPPPA.

People also have the opportunity to network and meet other safety professionals during and after the event.

“Ultimately, if you're a member, regardless of what industry or what level of the organization you are at, if you can meet, network, learn and take back, one, two, three, four or five pieces of information that you can implement right away to improve your site, we call that a success,” Schulte said.
