Updated Hydraulic Breaker Safety Manual Available

Expanded from 48 to 68 pages, the AEM manual covers current best practices for using carrier mounted hydraulic breakers on skid steer loaders, compact excavators, hydraulic excavators, and loader backhoes.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has produced an updated safety manual for carrier mounted hydraulic breakers, which are typically used on skid steer loaders, compact excavators, hydraulic excavators, and loader backhoes. Graphics reinforce the safety messages and depict the latest in machine safety signs and manufacturers' practices.

AEM says added or expanded material includes safe mounting and dismounting; utility locating; attachment installation; installation, use, and maintenance of quick-couplers; and using newer safety features, such as gate or armrest-based hydraulic control locks. The manual includes:

  • ISO safety symbols
  • Safety alert messages
  • "Safety Alert symbol" and "Signal Words" sections conforming to ANSI Z535.6:2006
  • Information on One-Call services and the USA national 811 number
  • Illustrations clearly presenting hand signals

Other safety and training materials for off-road equipment are available online in the AEM Store.
