Capital Safety Introduces Wind Energy Fall Protection Training Courses

Capital Safety, home of the DBI-SALA and PROTECTA brands, recently announced that it has added three fall protection training courses for the wind energy industry to its roster of training offerings, including Competent Person, Competent Rescuer, and Competent Rescuer Trainer.

"We are excited to meet the growing demand for height safety training for wind turbine workers," said Jerry Falk, Capital Safety global product director. "Capital Safety has provided industry-leading fall protection equipment to turbine workers for years. With training courses now dedicated to this burgeoning industry, our latest offerings fulfill our mission to protect workers at height by providing knowledge that is essential for safe construction, maintenance, and rescue atop wind turbines."

Each of the courses have both written and practical examinations, and comply with OSHA, ANSI, and CSA regulations. The following courses are available:

  • Wind Energy Competent Person Course: Two-day course that meets the requirements of OSHA, ANSI, and CSA for Competent Person.
  • Wind Energy Competent Person and Competent Rescuer Course: Four-day course that meets the requirements of OSHA, ANSI, and CSA for Competent Person, Competent Rescuer, and Competent Inspector.
  • Wind Energy Competent Rescuer – Competent Rescuer Trainer Course: Four-day course that meets the requirements of OSHA, ANSI, and CSA for Competent Rescuer and Competent Rescuer Trainer, following successful completion of the Wind Energy Competent Person Course.

These courses involve a high degree of hands-on scenarios and will require students to actively participate in rescue operations. Students will learn how to use pre-engineered rescue equipment and rescue techniques for safe and efficient rescues. In addition, the Competent Rescuer Trainer course includes instruction in adult learning, lesson plan development, and teaching methods so that the attendee can effectively conduct wind energy Authorized Rescuer training.

Courses are offered on an open-enrollment basis at the Capital Safety Training Institutes located in Red Wing, Minnesota; Houston, Texas; and Mississauga, Ontario. For more information, visit www.capitalsafety.com and click on "Training."
