AIHA Co-Sponsors NIOSH DREAM Workshop

The American Industrial Hygiene Association will co-sponsor the 2008 National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Direct-Reading Exposure Assessment Methods (DREAM) Workshop that will take place Nov. 13-14, 2008, at the Hilton Crystal City in Washington, D.C.

The workshop will gather subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other interested parties from the public and private sectors to provide input into research needs. AIHA said the workshop is a critical part of the NIOSH effort to prevent disease and injury to workers by supporting research, promoting best practices, describing and communicating effective policies, and engaging in productive partnerships.

In addition, the workshop promotes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Health Places goal to promote and protect the health and safety of workers by preventing workplace-related fatalities, illness, injuries, and personal health risks.

Topics of discussion include aerosols, gases and vapors, ergonomics and vibration, noise, radiation, and biomonitoring.
