3M Buying Quest Technologies Inc.

3M announced today it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Quest Technologies Inc., an Oconomowoc, Wis.-based manufacturer of environmental monitoring equipment and monitoring devices for noise, heat stress, and vibration. 3M did not disclose terms of the transaction.

"Quest Technologies broadens our presence in the industrial hygiene and safety equipment markets by bringing its renowned sound monitoring technology to our strong offering of personal protective equipment," said Julie Bushman, vice president and general manager of the 3M Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Division.

Quest's noise dosimeters is worn by a worker to measures his noise exposure over time. The device calculates a number of values, including "noise dose." Quest also makes sound level meters; it has about 95 employees at its headquarters, according to 3M, which said the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
