Food Safety Funding Set for Subcommittee Hearing

If E.col-tainted fresh spinach and peanut butter recalls have you worried about the state of food safety, you may want to listen to a hearing Thursday on Capitol Hill. The Agriculture Subcommittee of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee had a hearing set for 10 a.m. Eastern to examine funding for the Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The acting administrator of FSIS, David Goldman, is one witness scheduled to testify, according to the committee's posted schedule. Also scheduled to testify are USDA Under Secretary Richard Raymond and W. Scott Steele, a USDA budget officer.
