DOL Will Host Online Workplace Compliance Event in May 2024

The two-day event—which aims to guide companies in meeting federal compliance regulations—takes place on May 8-9, 2024.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will host a two-day online forum titled "Ensuring a Strong Foundation of Compliance with Federal Labor Laws in Construction" on May 8-9, 2024. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CDT each day, addressing aspects of compliance with federal laws governing wages, safety and other workplace issues.

According to a recent release, the forum will feature presentations and panel discussions with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, OSHA, the Wage and Hour Division, the Employment Benefits Security Administration, the Employment and Training Administration, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, the Office of Labor-Management Standards, Veterans’ Employment Training Service and the Women’s Bureau.

Other participating entities include the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Internal Revenue Service, the Small Business Administration, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the National Labor Relations Board. Presentations will range between 30 and 90 minutes in length.

“The Department of Labor has responsibility for protecting the rights of our nation’s workforce ensuring a safe and healthy workplace while assisting employers to understand their responsibilities under the law,” Wage and Hour Division Regional Administrator Betty Campbell in Dallas said in a statement. “That’s why the department offers workers and employers the tools and guidance they need to understand federal regulations at events like this, in our regional offices and throughout many of the department’s websites.”

Interested parties can register for free online for Day 1 and Day 2 of the event. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be available for attendees, and accommodations for accessibility can be requested by contacting [email protected] by May 2, 2024.

More information, including the full forum agenda, is available on the forum flyer.
