Hospitals Focused on Patient Safety This Week
This year's Patient Safety Awareness Week has the tagline "Let's Talk: Healthy Conversations for Safer Healthcare."
Hospitals and health care organizations around the country are observing Patient Safety Awareness Week through Saturday, taking part in a national education and awareness campaign to boost patient safety at the local level. The National Patient Safety Foundation has given this year's campaign the tagline "Let's Talk: Healthy Conversations for Safer Healthcare," and participating hospitals are offering events of their own.
Boston, Mass.-based NPSF, which was founded in 1997, offers free PSAW toolkits to members of its Stand Up for Patient Safety and Ambulatory Stand Up for Patient Safety Program. They also have access to patient safety resources and educational opportunities.
The toolkits contain posters, checklists, an introductory letter about MRSA and executive walk-around MRSA checklist, and various materials about infection prevention and hand hygiene good practices.
The Joint Commission also offers materials related to patient safety and best practices, including an online patient safety quiz.
