Alabama Pallet Manufacturer Cited, with $76,000 in Fines

The company was cited by OSHA for repeat and serious safety violations following an inspection connected to a noise reduction local emphasis program.

Southeast Florida Products, Inc.—operating as Southwest Pallet & Box—has been cited by OSHA for 10 violations, seven repeat and three serious, following an inspection that occurred at the company's Montgomery facility. Along with the violations, OSHA proposed a total of $76,230 in fines.

The inspection was done as part of a local OSHA program that emphasizes noise reduction. In one of the repeat violations, the employer allegedly exposed workers to electrical/shock, burn, and amputation hazards. Another repeat hazard included failure to implement a hearing monitoring plan and failure to conduct audiometric testing. The repeat violations carried $63,910 of the fines.
