Under the new MIOSHA rules, employees must be removed from lead exposure when their BLL reaches 30 μg/dL and cannot return to work involving lead exposure until their BLL falls below 15 (μg/dL).
Dampness can promote the growth of mold, bacteria, fungi, and insects. Workers and others in damp buildings can be exposed to airborne pollutants from biological contaminants and the breakdown of building materials.

The rules expand a protective zone, extend the evacuation period, require storage for boots and shoes to prevent pesticides from being tracked into workers' housing, and require doors, windows, and air intakes to be closed when pesticides are applied.

On May 9, two Empire Equipment Services workers were installing sewer pipes at the site when a 30-foot-wide section of the trench's sidewall sloughed and collapsed. Only one of the workers was able to escape.

BSEE's targeted inspections identified multiple facilities where the integrity of the flame arrestor and spark arrestor could not be easily inspected, the inspection frequency was not understood by facility personnel, or there was no documentation of inspections.
The inspection report indicates the special inspection was conducted in response to concerns about "apparent failures," including that occupational workers failed to wear dosimetry, management failed to investigate abnormal dosimetry results, and that management failed to assess outside employment in determining the total occupational exposure of applicable staff.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled locksets and contact the firm for instructions on receiving a free replacement lockset. The company has received eight reports of lockset latch failures, but no injuries have been reported.
