J. J. Keller Expands Safety Solutions with Light-Up Protection Products

New illuminated PPE enhances worker visibility and safety in low-light and high-traffic environments

JJ. J. Keller & Associates Inc. has expanded its safety product portfolio with a new line of light-up protection products designed to improve worker visibility and reduce risk in low-light and high-traffic environments.

The illuminated personal protective equipment (PPE) is intended for use by DOT road workers, construction crews, trucking and towing professionals, emergency responders, and individuals seeking enhanced personal safety.

According to the company, illuminated PPE helps workers remain visible in dim conditions, supporting compliance with ANSI/ISEA and OSHA visibility requirements. Added illumination allows workers to adapt more effectively to varied work environments, potentially reducing accidents and liability exposure.

“Visibility is critical for worker safety, especially in high-risk environments like road construction and transportation,” said Ray Chishti, senior EHS editor at J. J. Keller. “According to the Federal Highway Administration, adequate lighting can reduce nighttime pedestrian injury crashes by 42%. This finding underscores the critical importance of visibility for anyone on or near the roadway. In work zones, where workers often operate in low-light conditions, illuminated safety equipment, such as lighted vests, supports the same visibility principles by helping drivers detect workers sooner and reducing the risk of nighttime crashes.”

Product highlights include:

  • Lighted vests: Up to 15 hours of constant light or 25 hours in flashing mode, quick recharge, and weather-resistant construction.
  • Triangle road lights: Visible up to one mile, waterproof, solar backup, and continuous flashing for more than 24 hours.
  • Body light: Magnetic base, foldable stand, belt clip, and 400 lumens with visibility up to one-half mile.
  • Work light: Up to 3,000 lumens, 20-hour runtime, 360-degree swivel design, waterproof housing, and multiple lighting modes, including two emergency red modes.
  • Baton Commander: Magnetic body, wrist strap, built-in flashlight, and 360-degree visibility.
  • Headlights: Hands-free illumination with adjustable brightness for detailed work in dark environments.
  • Beanie with integrated light: Cold-weather headwear with a built-in LED for visibility and task lighting.
  • LED safety glasses: Eye protection combined with forward-facing LED lights for precision work in low-light conditions.
