FAA to Hold Airspace Improvement Workshops in Las Vegas

Three workshops on proposed airspace improvements will be held this week.

The Federal Aviation Administration has announced it will hold three workshops this week on proposed airspace improvements in the Las Vegas area. As part of FAA's Las Vegas Metroplex project, the agency hopes to improve satellite navigation in order to move air traffic more efficiently through the area.

The project includes McCarran International Airport -- which was among the 10 busiest U.S. airports in 2015 according to passenger boardings -- and also North Las Vegas Airport, Henderson Executive Airport, and Nellis Air Force Base. This is one of 12 Metroplex projects nationwide.

The purpose of the workshops is to explain issues the FAA has identified with the current airspace system. The agency has not begun designing the modified routes yet.

The workshops will be held on April 25, 26, and 27.
