Safety Plans to Endure Extreme Weather Events

In this episode, editor Sydny Shepard walks through some extreme weather events and what safety professional can do to ensure they are prepared.

One of my favorite television shows has a motto that has stuck with it since the beginning of its 23 seasons. That motto is, “expect the unexpected.” I’d like to think that safety professionals are really good at this. While employees arrive to work at the beginning of their shift expecting just another normal day, safety professionals are a little wiser. They understand that there are hazards lurking and they could present themselves at any moment.

That’s why safety professionals work so hard to understand the environments their employees are in. You test the air, you look for trip, slip and fall hazards, you inspect chemical packaging and you plan. Boy, do you plan.

In this episode, we will walk through a few weather events that, although rare, do still happen and what you should be doing to ensure that you are prepared in those moments when the unexpected, does in fact, happen.
