Vehicle Accident May Have Caused Amtrak Derailment
Authorities are investigating whether an unreported vehicle crash may have damaged the railroad tracks in Kansas
Authorities say they’re investigating whether an unreported vehicle crash may have damaged the railroad tracks before an Amtrak train derailed in Kansas, according to a report.
29 people were taken to hospitals after an Amtrak train derailed early Monday morning. The NTSB continues to investigate the accident, after a government official said an engineer noticed a significant bend in a rail on the tracks, causing him to hit the emergency brakes.
J.G. Sharp, Gray County sheriff’s Deputy, said a separate vehicle accident may have damaged the rails before the passenger train derailed.
