New York DMV Approves Online Spanish Defensive Driving Course

To accommodate a growing Hispanic population, the American Safety Council (Orlando, Fla.) has been approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to offer an online defensive driving course in Spanish. In March, ASC announced the approval to deliver its defensive driving course completely test-free by way of its custom identity validation process, enabling students to take the course 100-percent online from start to finish. The recent Spanish language option is now included as a separate registration, but the course and benefits remain the same.

Completion of the English or Spanish course provides New York drivers a mandatory 10-percent reduction in the base rate of their current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums for three years. Upon completion of the course, drivers also are eligible to receive up to a four point reduction on their driving record.

"Every eligible New York motorist should be afforded the opportunity for insurance and point reduction,” said ASC President Bob Proechel. "We recognized Hispanic New Yorkers may prefer to take the course in their native language."

Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate to present to their insurance company for the insurance discount. ASC also automatically notifies the New York DMV for graduates to receive up to a 4 point reduction on their driving record.

The New York Defensive Driving course is available online in English at www.NewYorkSafetyCouncil.com and in Spanish at www.NewYorkSafetyCouncil.com/Spanish. ASC and its affiliated organizations offer online traffic and workplace safety training, governmental services, and professional continuing education programs, in association with state and federal regulatory agencies and court systems. ASC also offers 24/7 toll-free customer support with bilingual representatives. For more information, contact ASC at 1-800-292-5080, or visit www.americansafetycouncil.com.
