Square D Gears Up for 2007 Energy, Power Distribution Conference
A panel discussion on NFPA 70E compliance and presentations on arc-resistant switchgear and achieving operational excellence in state-of-the-art electrical safety programs will be highlights of Square D's annual Energy, Power Distribution and Control Conference, to be held Sept. 11-13, 2007, at the Sheraton Raleigh hotel in Raleigh, N.C. Square D®, the global brand of Paris-based Schneider Electric for NEMA type electrical distribution and industrial control products, systems, and services, says the conference is appropriate for anyone involved with facility maintenance, power distribution, or plant automation.
"The Energy, Power Distribution and Control Conference is a unique, non-competitive learning environment where power distributors and end users can come together to discuss the latest energy, power distribution and control issues and solutions," said Mike Rice, Square D Services director. "Presenters are specialists in fields as diverse as electrical distribution, equipment modification, engineering solutions, energy management, automation and control products, and arc flash safety."
The EPD&C conference is broken up into several educational tracks geared to provide the latest tips and techniques, tapping the knowledge and experience of specialists from user and supplier organizations through formal and informal sessions. Among the presenters, DuPont's H. Landis Floyd (Lanny) will speak on electrical safety, Square D's Joe Weigel will address NFPA 70E workplace compliance, and Powell Electrical Mfg.'s Ted Burse will speak on the mitigation of arc energy in low voltage and medium voltage switchgear, including a review of IEEE/ANSI standards addressing arc resistant switchgear. Floyd, Weigel, and others will lead a panel discussion on NFPA 70E, taking questions from the audience. In addition, an outdoor barbeque with a special Western theme and bluegrass music will be held the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 12.
