Ask Me Anything: Electrical Safety with Zarheer Jooma

Do you have a lot of questions about electrical safety? Now is your chance to get them answered. Electrical safety expert Zarheer Jooma, P.E., IEEE (SM’17), and partner at e-Hazard, will join Occupational Health & Safety for a full hour to address your queries on electrical safety, including standards, risk assessment, incident investigation, and more. As the heading suggests, you can ask Zarheer anything related to electrical safety, and he will share his extensive knowledge and expertise with the audience. Think of this as an open office hour with a knowledgeable safety authority.

In addition to the Q&A session, OH&S executive editor and publisher David Kopf will interview Jooma on various pertinent and timely electrical topics. However, the majority of the session will be dedicated to answering YOUR questions about electrical safety.

Why are we introducing the Ask Me Anything format? Each of Zarheer's webinars generates numerous questions (usually more than 80) — far more than he can answer during the sessions. Therefore, we decided to give you, the safety professional, an opportunity to get your important electrical safety questions addressed.

Zarheer Jooma, P.E., IEEE (SM’17)
Zarheer Jooma is a professional engineer and partner at e-Hazard. He holds a master’s degree (cum-laude) in electrical engineering, is a senior member of the IEEE, has convened and chaired arc flash safety standards, and is a member of both ASTM F18 and IEC TC-78. Zarheer performs electrical network design, arc flash studies, electrical safety training, incident investigations, and auditing. He has published several peer-reviewed papers on Electrical Safety, spoke at numerous conferences both locally and internationally, contributed to wording on the NFPA70E standard, and is actively engaged as a subject matter expert on the IEEE1584 suite of standards. He is the technical paper review chair for two of the IEEE journals and chair for the IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop 2025.
