New Survey Shows Worker Opinion on Electrical Safety

Multiple respondents said “more can be done” to improve safety at work.

A newly published study reveals workers’ opinions on electrical safety.

The survey by Fluke Corporation compares data from 2020, 2021 and 2022 and was collected from February 1 to 28, 2022. The respondents were from 49 different states and included 922 workers.

Many workers said they believe that “more can be done” to improve electrical safety, almost 95 percent. Where can employers get ideas to improve workplace safety? According to the survey, maybe the workers. More than 55 percent “have ideas on how to make the industry safer.” Many also agreed they think workers are the “most responsible” for safety, with the least responsible being human resources.

A strong safety culture may also be important to a safe workplace, according to 98 percent of respondents. These 98 percent agree or strongly agree that safety culture is important to worker safety. This hasn’t changed much since 2020.

“Gaining buy-in for a safety culture has proven to be the most challenging piece, but at the same time it is the most important part,” said a respondent in the press release.

Whether companies have a strong safety culture is another question. Only 37 percent agree that companies have strong safety cultures. This has changed in the last three years when in 2020, more agreed with the statement.
