Addressing the Safety of Temporary Workers

Episode 116

Addressing the Safety of Temporary Workers

Temporary workers are owed the same about of protection as employees with permanent employment roles. In this episode, Editor Sydny Shepard breaks down some common worksite scenarios and how staffing agencies and host employers can work to jointly keep workers safe.

About a week or two ago, I got a lovely email from an OH&S SafetyPod listener from Florida. The listener said that she was a regional safety manager employed by a staffing and recruiting company. She explained that while she’d been in staffing for over a decade, her role in safety was relatively new and wanted to suggest the topic of safety for temporary workers for the podcast.

Now, I think this is a great topic for the podcast! In the letter, our listener explained that it is often that she sees temporary workers go without the same amount or any safety training that regular employees do. In this episode, we will discuss what OSHA says you should do in this scenario as well as dive into some tips for ensuring all workers on your worksite are going home at the end of the day—safe and sound.

If you have a topic you'd like us to cover on OH&S SafetyPod, feel free to email us at [email protected].
