Episode 93

Safety's Role in Environmental, Social and Governance Initiatives

In this episode, Editor Sydny Shepard sits down with Blackline Safety Board of Directors member Cheemin Bo-Linn to discuss the role safety plays in EGS performance and reporting.

For this episode, we are bringing you the third installment a series of podcasts from Blackine Safety on Leadership and Safety. You’ll remember that earlier this year, I talked about key indications of a strong safety culture and re-framing workplace safety post-pandemic with Chief Revenue Officer Sean Stinson.

During our last chat, Sean and I briefly touched on Blackline’s approach to Environmental, Social and Governance issues. Which is exactly what we will be focusing on today with our newest guest for the podcast: Cheemin Bo-Linn, lead independent board of director and chair of the governance, compensation and sustainability committee.

Cheemin and I have a pretty insightful conversation about Blackline’s perspective on common ESG issues as well as the areas in which the company has decided to dial in on.

First, a little about Cheemin: Cheemin serves on Blackline’s board of directors and chairs the governance, compensation and sustainability committee. She has also been engaged in safety and ESG issues in other industries including oil and gas, industrial, construction, lodging, and other sectors with large workforces.

In addition to serving on Blackline’s board of directors, she was previously elected to five public boards and served as a c-suite officer at mid and large Fortune 100 companies including serving as a former vice president at IBM.
