The Safety Gap — Challenges in Gas Detection

In this episode of the podcast, Editor Sydny Shepard talks with Honeywell Offering Manager Lead Richard Dunn about the "safety gap" he and his team found when surveying customer needs for gas detection.

On this episode of the podcast, I’m joined by Richard Dunn, an Offering Manager Lead at Honeywell to talk about the challenges companies and organizations might be having when it comes to keeping workers safe on the job.

Through his research with Honeywell, Richard and the team found that there is quite a significant safety gap when it comes to providing gas detection to full-time employees versus part-time contract workers. It seemed that while full time employees were outfitted with all the gas detection devices they might need, part-time contractors, on the other hand, were not as well equipped.

When I heard about this, I had so many questions! These multi-national companies do so much work to protect their workers day in and day out. Why the divide in safety when it came to full time employees versus part-time contractors? Turns out, you can boil it down to three things.

Before we get into what those three things are, however, let’s talk a little bit more about my guest for this episode. Richard Dunn has been at Honeywell for 15 years and is the Offering Manager Lead for the Honeywell Gas Portables range. In that 15 years he has brought many successful products to the market including the new Compliance Portables including Honeywell BW Icon, Icon+ and Flex.
