President-elect Biden Names New Additions to Economic Team
The administration rounds out its economic team with picks for labor secretary, commerce secretary and head of the Small Business Administration.

President-elect Joe Biden announced the choices for the remaining slots on his economic team on January 7, according to The New York Times.
Boston mayor Martin J. Walsh was named labor secretary, while Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo was named commerce secretary. Isabel Guzman, who worked in the Obama administration, will be head of the Small Business Administration.
The labor and commerce secretaries have the ability to impact factors such as worker safety and protection. The Small Business Administration directs pandemic-related programs such as the Paycheck Protection Program, which aids small businesses.
President-elect Biden has stated intentions to expand worker protections, especially in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is reported that Mayor Walsh will work to improve pay for workers as well as update OSHA standards.
