New Director Selected for NRC's Office of Enforcement

George Wilson had been serving as the office's acting director. He joined NRC in 1999 as a Region III operator licensing examiner in Illinois and subsequently served in several key positions in the region and at the agency's Rockville, Md., headquarters.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced on May 8 the selection of George Wilson as director of its Office of Enforcement. The appointment is effective immediately.

Wilson had been serving as the office's acting director. He joined NRC in 1999 as a Region III operator licensing examiner in Illinois and subsequently served in several key positions in the region and at the agency's Rockville, Md., headquarters. He was selected for the Senior Executive Service in 2014.

"George is an experienced and talented leader with a distinguished career as an NRC employee. I am proud to announce his promotion to this important position," said Executive Director for Operations Margaret Doane.

According to the agency's news release, Wilson received a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology/General Studies from the University of New York in Albany, N.Y., and an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis. He is a graduate of NRC's SES Career Development Program.
