USPS Cited for Safety Violations at Austin Facility

Upon investigation, OSHA determined that a worker was injured after being ejected from a powered industrial truck.

The U.S. Postal Service has been cited by OSHA for safety hazards, with proposed penalties totaling $224,585. OSHA issued the citation after receiving a complaint of unsafe working conditions at a USPS facility in Austin, Texas.

Upon investigation, OSHA determined that a worker was injured after being ejected from a powered industrial truck. USPS was cited for failing to ensure operators of powered industrial trucks obeyed traffic laws, exposing employees to trip hazards, and failing to label electrical panels and breakers.

USPS has 15 business days after receiving the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with the area director, or contest the findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
