OSHA Announces $10.5 Million in Training Grants

A total of $10.5 million in funds is available for nonprofit organizations including community and faith-based organizations, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor/management associations, Indian tribes, and colleges and universities.

OSHA announced Friday in the Federal Register three Susan Harwood Training Grants funding opportunities for Targeted Topic Training Grants, Training and Educational Materials Development Grants, and Capacity Building Grants. A total of $10.5 million in funds is available for nonprofit organizations including community and faith-based organizations, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor/management associations, Indian tribes, and colleges and universities.

The grant program supports the development of hands-on educational programs and training, particularly targeting groups such as workers and employers in small businesses, industries will high rates of injury, illness, and fatality, and vulnerable workers. The funding will go toward training and education for workers and employers in identifying and preventing safety and health hazards in the workplace.

Targeted Topic Training Grants support the development of educational programs and training focused on identifying and preventing hazards in the workplace. Training and Educational Materials Development grants go toward the development of training and educational materials for the classroom, and Capacity Building Grants support organizations in the development of new ability to conduct workplace health and safety training programs.
