New Pig Introduces a Spill Risk Algorithm
Facility managers can use it, free of charge, to understand their premises' spill risks and ways to reduce unnecessary risks.
DENVER -- New Pig has developed a new algorithm to help facility managers understand their premises' spill risks and how those unnecessary risks and can reduced or eliminated. Company officials were discussing the new tool on June 19 at the opening day of the expo at ASSE's Safety 2017 conference and expo.
It's a free tool that companies can use to obtain a Spill Preparedness Report. To request one, they would email [email protected].
Data gathering for a company will take just a few minutes. The algorithm performs more than 600 calculations for each liquid area , asking six simple questions per area (such as battery storage areas and fuel stations), then a comprehensive report on risk factors in each area is compiled.
"Our intent was to provide physics-based guidance to facilities where regulations leave off," said its developer, Andy James, New Pig's sustainability manager. "We find that when provided with actual spill data, facilities are eager to take the steps to meet a more helpful, meaningful guidance."
