NSC Announces Winners of Green Cross for Safety Awards
The Boeing Company, PotashCorp and Deputy Chief Lou Jogmen were all recognized
According to a news release, the NSC has presented its Green Cross for Safety Awards to those that have helped save lives and prevent injuries. PotashCorp has been awarded the Excellence Award, while The Boeing Company was awarded the Innovation Award and Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen won the Advocate Award.
The awards were given during a ceremony at Coronado Island in San Diego.
“PotashCorp, The Boeing Company and Deputy Chief Jogmen have helped make our world a safer place to work and live,” said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “We are proud to honor them and to recognize all the outstanding finalists that share the Council’s goal of eliminating preventable deaths and injuries in our lifetime.”
PotashCorp developed a system to allow workers to identify potential SIF exposure before an incident and provides training so employees can identify potential problems in routine activities.
The Boeing Company developed a fall protection system that disables a work platform if a worker is not properly hooked into his or her PPE. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Lou Jogmen spearheaded the inaugural Illinois Rail Safety Week in 2014.
