NTSB Revealing Most 2017-2018 Wanted List Nov. 14

"Since 1990, our annual Most Wanted List has been our roadmap from lessons learned to lives saved," NTSB Chairman Christopher Hart said. "It represents actions which, if taken, will save lives and reduce the number of people injured, and amount of property, damaged in transportation accidents."

The National Transportation Safety Board will reveal its 2017-2018 Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvements on Nov. 14 at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The list is an outreach element from the board that lists its highest priorities for needed changes, and NTSB has moved to a two-year cycle for the list instead of issuing it annually in order to give more attention to the issues and the safety recommendations that drive them.

The two-year cycle "allows more time for the transportation industry, safety advocates, regulatory agencies and individuals to effect the changes necessary to address the 10 issues on the Most Wanted List," according to the board's announcement of the Nov. 14 briefing.

He is scheduled to participate in the media, along with T. Bella Dinh-Zarr, NTSB vice chairman, and board members Robert Sumwalt and Earl Weener.

Items currently on the list include reducing fatigue-related accidents, disconnecting from dangerous distractions, preventing loss of control in flight for general aviation, ending substance impairment in transportation, and expanding the use of event recorders to enhance transportation safety.
