Steam Methane Plant Exposed Workers to Health Dangers Due to Safety Failures

Air Liquide Large Industries US LP has been cited for one willful and one serious violation.

OSHA has announced it cited Air Liquide Large Industries US LP for one willful and one serious violation after the company failed to perform air monitoring to measure exposure to carbon monoxide gas. The Corpus Christi, Texas-based facility where the inspection took place also failed to protect workers from a potentially hazardous atmosphere created by valves that were found to be leaking.

"Air Liquide is a large, multinational organization with vast holdings but it chooses to ignore simple processes to keep its employees safe," said Travis Clark, OSHA's area director in the Corpus Christi office. "Carbon monoxide can be deadly if it is not controlled and monitored closely."

The fines add up to $77,000 total.
