NSC Backs Adding Collision Avoidance Technologies to NTSB's Most Wanted List

The safety council announced it applauds the priorities that were added.

The National Safety Council announced that it applauds the National Transportation Safety Board for adding the "promote availability of collision avoidance technologies in highway vehicles" to its 2016 Most Wanted List.

"Our cars are safer and smarter than ever before, yet we continue to lose 35,000 people each year in car crashes," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the council and a former NTSB chair. "The Most Wanted List is a roadmap guiding us toward zero deaths on the roads."

According to the NSC, most fatal car crashes involve multiple vehicles, which showcases the importance of collision avoidance technologies. Many of these technologies are available today, but research shows the majority of drivers do not know how the features work.
