NSC 2015 Gets Rolling
Monday's opening session, 6.5 hours of expo time, and three NSC Learning Lab sessions in the expo hall are among the #NSCexpo highlights.
ATLANTA -- The 2015 National Safety Council Congress & Expo gets rolling Sept. 28 inside Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center with NSC President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman hosting an opening session on "Building Safer Workplaces." Other highlights on Monday's schedule include 6.5 hours of expo time and three NSC Learning Lab Sessions, 45-minute educational offerings in the expo hall.
The keynote speaker is Michael Abrashoff, who will discuss his concept of The Leadership Roadmap. Abrashoff implemented this when, at age 36, he was given the command of a badly underperforming U.S. Navy ship, the USS Benfold. He proceeded to overhaul its culture and transformed its crew's performance, an experience Abrashoff detailed in his book "It's Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy." He's scheduled to do a book signing following his keynote speech.
The opening session also will feature the announcement of winners of this year's Robert W. Campbell Award and the Distinguished Service to Safety awards, and outgoing NSC Board of Directors Chairman Jeff Woodbury will hand over the gavel to incoming Chairman John Surma. The Campbell Awards recognizes companies that achieve ness excellence by integrating environmental, health and safety management into their business operations.
