ABIH Board Nominations Due June 15

The American Board of Industrial Hygienists' board has 11 members who must be ABIH certificate holders and serve four-year terms, with one public member selected for a two-year term.

Something on the minds of numerous industrial hygienists attending AIHce 2015, now under way in Salt Lake City, is this year's election of new member to the American Board of Industrial Hygiene's board of directors. ABIH is the certification board for industrial hygienists, and its board has 11 members who must be ABIH certificate holders and serve four-year terms, with one public member selected for a two-year term.

According to ABIH, the goal is to have a broad representation from the professional community, with two or three new board members selected each year.

The board meets three times a year (in January, during the AIHce conference, and at AIHA's Fall Conference), with meetings usually held on weekends to avoid conflicting with work. Monthly conference calls also take place to conduct business and monitor progress.

June 15 is the deadline for qualified, interested candidates to submit a nomination packet; the nomination form is available here. A board selection committee will review the candidates, conduct interviews, and recommend final nominees to the board, which will elect the new directors during its September 2015 conference call.
