The Texas Department of Public Safety's Division of Emergency Management hosted the 2015 Texas Emergency Management Conference this week in San Antonio, welcoming hundreds of public and private sector emergency management officials to exchange ideas and discuss best practices.
The Texas Department of Public Safety's Division of Emergency Management hosted the 2015 Texas Emergency Management Conference this week in San Antonio, welcoming hundreds of public and private sector emergency management officials to exchange ideas and discuss best practices. The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1.
"Emergencies that threaten public safety and homeland security can happen anywhere, at any time, and run the gamut from severe weather and natural disasters to manmade disasters, industrial accidents, and disease outbreaks," said DPS Director Steven McCraw. "The unpredictable nature of such events underscores the vital need for extensive emergency planning, and this conference provides an optimal opportunity for local, state, tribal, and federal organizations and officials to stay up to date on best practices and share ideas essential for effective emergency management."
This annual conference attracts approximately 2,600 first responders, emergency managers, elected officials, and decision makers from across the state.
