NPHW 2015 Focused on Health Improvement Nationwide

CDC is one of the partners in this American Public Health Association effort. APHA released a new book titled "Occupational Safety and Health Policy" last week.

National Public Health Week is under way, with CDC and several other partner organizations supporting this this American Public Health Association effort. It is taking place April 6-12 with a theme for each weekday. The partners and the week are working toward the mission of Healthiest Nation 2030. APHA also released a new book titled "Occupational Safety and Health Policy" last week.

The themes focus on critical public health topics, including smoking, diabetes, healthier lifestyles, reducing motor vehicle fatalities, and immunizations:

  • Monday, April 6: Raising the Grade to develop a stronger public health system that supports healthy communities and moves toward preventing illness, disease, and injury.
  • Tuesday: Starting from Zip, focused on trying make the United States the healthiest nation in one generation, this includes working with state, tribal, local, and territorial public health professionals to improve health in all communities.
  • Wednesday: Building Momentum, which encourages workplace health programs and programs to encourage lower tobacco use.
  • Thursday:Building Broader Communities, with the public health community expanding its partnerships to collaborate with city planners, education officials, and public, private and for-profit organizations – everyone who impacts Americans' health.
  • Friday: Building on 20 Years of Success. Celebrating public health accomplishments and discussing what it will take to become the healthiest nation in one generation.

On Wednesday from 2-3 p.m., APHA will host its fifth annual NPHW Twitter Chat. The official NPHW hashtag is #NPHW, and the chat's registration URL is http://vite.io/NPHWchat.
