NIOSH Announces Disaster Science Initiative
Partners are invited to participate in the new NIOSH Disaster Science Research Initiative to Enhance Responder Safety and Health.
NIOSH launched the NIOSH Disaster Science Research Initiative to Enhance Responder Safety and Health in January 2014, and the agency this week invited partners to participate in it -- all those interested in ensuring the safety and health of responders before, during, and after a disaster through research are welcome to participate, according to the agency's release. Contact CAPT Margaret Kitt at [email protected] or CDR Lisa Delaney at [email protected] if you are interested in participating.
"The initiative will concentrate on developing an approach to timely, scalable, scientifically sound responder-based research that can feasibly be implemented before, during, and after a large-scale disaster," according to the agency.
NIOSH has been involved in responder safety and health research for some time, having established the NIOSH Emergency Preparedness and Response Program almost 10 years ago to focus on responders' safety and health.
