Now in its 38th consecutive year, FM Global's Fire Prevention Grant Program has contributed millions of dollars to fire service organizations worldwide. There were 160 organizations receiving them in 2013 in the United States, Canada, and India, with the average award being $2,300. They help to fund the purchase of computers, software, training simulators, lighting units, educational materials, arson tool kits, smoke detectors, and more.

"Fire remains the leading cause of property damage worldwide, yet it is also one of the most preventable causes of property loss," said Michael Spaziani, manager of the grant program. "When awarding these grants, we seek to help fund programs that have the most demonstrable impact on preventing fire, or mitigating the damage fire can quickly cause. At FM Global, we focus much of our research on preventing and lessening damage from fire."
