Free Guide Provides Business Case for Employee Assistance
"Selecting and Strengthening Employee Assistance Programs: A Purchaser's Guide" was developed by EASNA's Knowledge Transfer and Research Committee.
A new guide to selecting and strengthening employee assistance programs is available as a free online download from the Arlington, Va.-based Employee Assistance Society of North America. Dated August 2009, the guide is meant for employers of all sizes, non-profits, government groups -- anyone who purchases or advises on the purchase of EAP services, including HR professionals, benefits consultants, EAP professionals, and researchers.
To obtain the PDF, visit http://www.easna.org/purchasers.php and fill out the online information form.
Members of EASNA's Knowledge Transfer and Research Committee developed the guide in a project that took several years, EASNA President Barbara Veder notes on the guide's acknowledgements page.
The guide indicates typical ROI for an employee assistance program is $3 or more for every $1 invested. It explains the different management models and describes ways to strengthen an EAP after it is implemented.
Questions from a sample RFP and a sample external audit of an EAP provider are included, and the guide also includes a list of resources and glossary of terms.
