NFPA Welcomes Colorado Inspectors Association as Newest Electrical Inspection Chapter

The new affiliate aims to strengthen safety compliance and provide enhanced training opportunities for electrical professionals across the state.

The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) has officially recognized the Association for Colorado Inspectors as the newest Electrical Inspection Section (EIS) Affiliate Chapter, in a move aimed at enhancing electrical safety, code compliance, and professional development throughout the state.

The chapter will provide Colorado’s electrical inspection professionals with education, training, and networking opportunities, while supporting compliance with NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code® (NEC®), and other safety standards.

“A strong electrical inspection program plays a vital role in safety and compliance,” said Tim McClintock, NFPA regional electrical specialist. “Through this relationship, NFPA and the Colorado electrical enforcement community can unite efforts to address today’s emerging challenges and advance community safety.”

Electrical inspections are a critical safeguard against workplace hazards such as electrocution and arc flash—two areas frequently cited by OSHA. The establishment of this chapter reflects NFPA’s growing push to align inspection efforts with broader national safety initiatives.

Tom Blevins, president of the Association for Colorado Inspectors, emphasized the chapter’s role in confronting modern safety demands. “We’re excited to partner with NFPA to expand our impact and position the chapter to meet today’s challenges head-on,” he said.

The Colorado chapter joins a growing network of NFPA EIS Affiliate Chapters across the United States, including organizations in Southwest Ohio, North Carolina, and Kentucky. The initiative is part of NFPA’s broader strategy to bolster the electrical enforcement community, including the recent creation of regional electrical specialist positions.

Qualified members of an EIS Affiliate Chapter may also gain access to the NFPA Electrical Inspection Membership, which includes benefits such as participation in code development, exclusive training, and inspection-related programming.

NFPA is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating death, injury, and property loss due to fire, electrical, and related hazards. The association develops and maintains more than 300 consensus codes and standards, including the NEC®.
